Huge loss for Apple Play store since Russia Invation of Ukraine

Since the start of the Russian-Ukraine War, the Russian App store has recoreded a massive lost of almost 6,982 due to the pull off of many companies apps and games from the Apple playstore.

According to the data recently shared with TechCrunch, an American online newspaper focusing on high tech and startup companies. It was stated that these Apps were downloaded in Russia almost 218 million times which is equivalent to about 3 % of the world 6.6 Billion installed Apps. It was noted that the rate of Apps removal has exponentially increased since the invation of Russia by Ukraine.

Cocacola, H&M, American Eagle outlets, Netflix are among popular market players who have pulled their Apps from Russia App Store. Other notable ones are NFL, Eurosport, NBA and WWE. It means that anyone living in Russia will not be able to download these Apps in the near future. It is still an open question if they would be able to do this with the aid of VPN.

Meta owned Instagram has also blocked Instagram in Russia. The government of Russia in retaliation has blocked the use of Facebook and all “Unfriendly countries” media stations in Russia.

Time will tell how the events unfold. Do you think these bans are just? leave your thoughts in the comment section.
